Verinssage 21.04.2017 Natalia Egorova "Recensere"

Natalia Egorovas works are to a large extent works based on process, where the finished work and the process struggle for attention, often displayed works can be documentation of performance and intervention. In her pieces Natalia Egorova incorporates historical, scientific and social aspects. The presence of the uncanny is often hinted beyond her works. With a background in printmaking Natalia now focuses on video as her main expression, often this is combined with performance. In the exhibition "Recensere" Natalia shows works from the past six years in her carreer. The works range from interpretations of a strict disciplinary education/upbringing , a notion of a connection between inner personal space and the outside world and the struggle in monotonous marching towards an uncertain future but not moving. Egorovas works can be interpreted as preparation for as well an individual trauma as a collective trauma in an ever more uncertain and authoritarian world.

En interagerande performance med fokus på samarbete, rörelser och ljud. Med hjälp av åskådarna byggdes ett flera meter högt torn av träklossar.

Galleri Gro participating in Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm 23-26.3

For the Supermarket art fair, Einat Amir with GRO Gallery will create a series of events and conversations exploring ideas of empathy generating through art. In a daily changing environment , Amir will conduct performative interactions and exercises, engaging the visitors in reflective experiments and emotional manipulations.

The Other

 

The project called "The Other", led by Joakim Hansson and Sofia Runarsdotter, took place in Mostar, Bosnia Hercegovina between may 2015 and september 2016.

Workshops, seminars, presentations and discussions were arranged in order to lead up to a collection of images created by the participants, showing how they see their lives in their hometown of Mostar, a town that not long ago was ravaged by war. A war that some of the participants in the project were not a part of as they were born after the diseintegration of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, while others experienced it as children growing up.

Even though a large amount of the participants in the project have no personal experience of the war they have inherited the war through the memories of their parents, relatives and other persons older than them. The conflict ended two decades ago, yet still affects the people of Mostar today. It is unavoidably a part of the collective and individual stories that the towns selfimage rests upon and it is a basis for thinking of ones own townspeople as devided into "us" and "them".

The opening of "Here's to Us!" was crowded. It opened in Campus Allegro, outside Galleri Gro, with a preformance called Mr. Green by Sara Braun & Kazuma Glen Motomura. Here you also see Albert Braun´s work "NEIN DANKE [HANHIKIVI] NEJ TACK v 3.0".

Kulturföreningen Konstverket r.f. välkomnar konstnärer att ansöka om deltagande i utställningen ”Ja, må vi leva!”. Temat för utställningen är finländsk nationalromantik. Utställningen med tillhörande salonger och happenings kommer att äga rum främst i och kring Galleri Gro, Campus Allegro i Jakobstad 3.9-5.10.2016 med vernissage 2.9. Övriga platser och rum kan även komma ifråga. Konstnärer uppmanas att skicka in ansökan om deltagande i utställningen senast 31.07.2016. Konstnärerna kan fritt behandla temat, att Finland närmar sig 100 år som republik eller hur är synen idag på nationalromantiken ur ett konstnärligt perspektiv. Bifoga CV och kontaktuppgifter. Konstnärerna sköter själva om transport- och försäkringskostnader.

Paul Bevan / In superposition

In superposition brings together a number of ideas on photography, performance and observation.  The term ‘superposition’ describes an object when it’s status is unknown and all possible positions coexist. This potential of multiple states collapses into a single state at the point the object is detected or observed, much like in the decisive moment of a photograph.

In this installation, Paul Bevan explores the notion of the body as an object/ image in superposition.  Referencing the double-slit experiment used to observe light as both wave and particle, Bevan projects a series of photographic images through a double-slit structure of himself standing at the water’s edge on locations in Fäboda (Finland) and Coney Island (New York).
